Learning to drive is one of the most rewarding things you can do, especially if you choose the right instructor to teach you.
The Driving Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is throwing its weight behind that message with plans to create a ratings system of driving instructor standards.
According to the DVSA, the move is being introduced amidst concerns of falling driving tuition standards with less than half of tests being passed in the UK and learner drivers taking up to 39 tries to get their licence.
That not only leads to new drivers’ confidence being hit, but also increases waiting lists for other potential drivers.
We welcome the move, though. Not only will it promote greater transparency results-wise from an agency perspective, but also underlines the enormous benefits of choosing a school and an instructor that’s personable and works in the best interests of their students.
Not only can a good instructor give new drivers confidence to approach the roads and become independent in entirely new ways, but building the right relationship with a good, experienced driving instructor is something that sticks with you for the rest of your life.
